Eric Heylen
Eric is the pastor of the Wimborne Elim Church. He was born in Belgium and lived mostly in South Africa (25 years) and along the way came into ministry.
Eric was saved under the AoG, but eventually found his way with the Full Gospel Church of SA. In 2004, God brought Eric & Emma to the UK (Deut 2:2, Isa 55:5). Connected with Elim UK (EFGA).
Eric has been with Wimborne Elim since March 2011 and has a positive belief that God is doing great things with new opportunities awaiting us. God speaks on reaching out towards the horizon, looking forward to impacting local communities and nations with the Gospel; with signs, wonders and miracles that accompanies the Word of God.
To him who believed, all things are possible said Jesus, I have therefore adopted that our limitations lie entirely on how we think, for as man thinks so he therefore is (Pr 22:7).
We look forward to meeting with you. So please pay us a visit if you are in the area of this beautiful part of the UK.
Emma Heylen
Emma is married to Eric and leads the Worship team via voice and with the guitar. She also helps and supports the Sunday Club for the kids.
Emma was born in South Wales and for the first 15 years of her life experienced only Welsh culture. She immigrated to SA and discovered a wonder of cultures very different from her own; it was there she met her Belgian French husband with a South African approach to life. “Let’s just say life has been exciting!”
When Emma came to faith she was an extremely shy girl. Her discovery of God is that if we are willing He will take our talents, no matter how small they may be and use them for His glory.
I stepped out in faith, little steps at first and I realised the Lord never left me for a moment –
John and Valerie Knox
John is married to Valerie and have been happily married for over 50 years.
John made a decision to receive Jesus into his life when he was 8 years old. On leaving school he started work as a medical laboratory scientist qualifying in biochemistry. However, God had other ideas for his life and in obedience to God’s call, he left the health service and entered into full-time ministry joining the ministry team at the Elim Christian fellowship in Worthing.
He was ordained in 1991. God had further plans for their lives and ministry and in 1995, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:9 ‘a great door for effective work has opened’ and John and Valerie moved to Spain as Elim Missionaries.
By God’s grace, they were privileged to be responsible for establishing the National constitution of Elim España and in 2000 became responsible for the Elim Church in Girona. They started with a group of 25 and when they retired in 2015 after over 20 years in Spain, they praise God that the central church in Girona had grown to over 200 with many lives and families being impacted and transformed by God. In addition, 2 vibrant branch churches have been established in the province.
Having retired to Dorset the couple are delighted to have found a spiritual home in Wimborne Elim.
“I know that ‘God has not finished with us yet’! It is a privilege to be asked to join the leadership team. I firmly believe that a church should be a vibrant expression of God’s love, with a passion to grow both spiritually and numerically, impacting the community for God. I am excited to see what God has in store for Wimborne Elim in the coming days.”
