A word for us, today…
In the Book of James, we are encouraged to draw near to God to experience God in our day-to-day living. However, how one could ask. How can I draw close to God? Throughout much of the Psalms, you will discover the word “meditate.” Meditating is not sitting and humming with your arms spread and your pointing finger touching your thumb. Meditating on the Lord is focussing on the Lord; taking a passage of Scripture for example, giving yourself a short moment to read it, think on it, and pray it to the Lord, or to pause, to look at God’s creation letting your mind wonder on its creative beauty. Maybe open your ears to good Christian music, whether it be instrumental or not, opening up your heart to that gentle sound or to the word that are sang. God in His incredible wisdom has provided through various outlet ways for us to draw near to Him. The Bible tells us that by meditating on the Lord, drawing near to Him, we shall be like a tree that is planted firmly near streams of water and we will bear fruits all year long. So all it takes is for us to give Him a bit of our time. So, give it a go, what could you possibly loose?
